recommend, substitute, acknowledge, occupy, keep it up, fit in, It / This / That + be + the first / second…time that从句
1. recommend vt. 推荐；建议；介绍；劝告
recommend sb / sth to sb向某人推荐 / 介绍某人或某物
recommend sb for… 推荐某人担任（某职位）
recommend sth for…推荐某物作某种用途
recommend sb as… 推荐某人为…
recommend doing… 建议做…
recommend sb to do…建议某人做…
recommend + (that)…建议…(that从句中should + 动词原形，should可省略)
recommendation n. 推荐；介绍信
eg: I recommend the book to all my students.
I recommend (that) he see a doctor.
He recommended reading the book before seeing the movie.
注：recommend作“劝告；建议”讲时，后面通常接名词、代词或动名词作宾语，可以接不定式作宾语补足语，但不能接不定式作宾语。
2. substitute n. 代替品；代用品
vt. 用…代替
vi. 代替；顶替
as a substitute 作为代替人 / 代用品
a substitute for sth 代替…的人或物
be no substitute for 没有…那样好；不如…称心
substitute A for B = substitute B with A 用A代替B
substitute for sb / sth 代替 / 取代某人 / 某物
substitution n. 代替；替代
辨析substitute / replace：
1 这两个词的含义略有不同，substitute强调“代替；顶替”，而replace强调“替换；更换”，即把旧的或坏的东西更换成新的（通常用take the place of更通俗些）
2 在句型结构上，通常是：
substitute A for B 用A代替B（使用A）
replace A with B 用B替换A（使用B）
She substituted sugar for honey.
We replaced a flat tyre with a new one.
eg: The manager was unable to attend but sent his deputy as a substitute.
We substituted red balls for blue ones, to see if the baby would notice.

3. acknowledge vt. 承认；确认；答谢
acknowledge sb / sth to be… 承认某人 / 某物是…
acknowledge that 承认
acknowledge doing… 承认做…
acknowledge…as 认为…是

acknowledge sb’s letter 向某人表示信已收到
acknowledgement n. 承认；感谢

4. occupy vt. 占用；占据；占领
occupy oneself with sth / in doing sth 忙于（做）某事
be occupied in doing sth 忙于做某事
be occupied with sth 从事 / 忙于某事
occupation n. 占领；职业，工作
eg: He is occupied with business matters.
The army occupied the enemy’s capital.
The speech occupied three hours.
