1、make up 表示把缺失的某物填补起来，把耽误的补上。
To make up the lessons I missed, I decided to turn to my classmate Peter.
2、make up for 表示“弥补”，这种弥补是用其他方式进行补偿。
Caroline doesn’t have a gift for music, but she make up for it with hard work.
